The 3rd regional heat of the Routes Marketing Awards took place last week in Prague with Athens Airport emerging victorious with the overall prize. On the night there were awards presented for four categories which were Western Europe, Scandinavia & the Baltics, Central & Eastern Europe and Mediterranean & Southern Europe.
Winning Airports included Riga, Brussels, Athens and Hamburg. Not content with just winning the Mediterranean & Southern Europe category, Athens Airport won the overall 1st prize on the night.
This means that Athens will now move to the next stage of the competition which will be held in Beijing and is known as the Routes World Airport Marketing Awards. Here Athens will compete against an American, Asian and African Airport. These awards are considered to be one of the most important in the airline industry. All nominations are made by airlines.
