Statistics for July this year show a massive sixty three percent increase for Bulgarians visiting Greece in comparison to the previous year. Turkey is also proving popular this year with a seven and a half percent rise in Bulgarian visitors.

Macedonia is also proving a top destination this year with a rise of over twenty six percent in Bulgarian visitors. Overall people in Bulgaria have traveled by over fourteen percent more this year bucking the worldwide trend. Long haul flights to the US and Asia however have been fewer this year with marked drops.

Tourism numbers in the country itself are down by over five percent this year.

Mama Mia was shot on the Sporades islands. This island has seen an increase in the number of British weddings this year with Skiathos, Alonisos and Skopelos all proving fashionable. Meryl Streep fans refuse to settle for anything less

The vast history of Greece also plays a part in attracting couples not to mention the nice weather. Statistics show that the number of couples traveling to Greece to get married has rose by twenty nine percent in the last year (March 2008 vs. March 2009)
